Ridgewood teen awarded citation for community work

Earlier this month, State Senator Joseph Addabbo presented Jamie Longo, a teen from Ridgewood, with a Senate Citation for her work in packing and distributing feminine hygiene products to residents in Far Rockaway.

“I was honored to present Jamie with a Senate Citation because she deserves to be recognized for her dedication to making the world a better place,” Addabbo said.

“She has shown her selflessness and consideration for others over and over again, and this distribution was no different.”

Addabbo added that if the world had more people like Jamie, and her brother Jacob, pictured below, “we would be a lot better off as a society.”

Go on a walking tour of the Ridgewood Reservoir

This is an incredible opportunity to explore the natural oasis that is the Ridgewood Reservoir!

Join David Chuchuca, assistant director of NYC H2O, to explore the ecological space in Highland Park that was once a high quality water supply, built for the city of Brooklyn in 1859.

During the walk, participants will learn about the history, ecology and water of the reservior.

Attendees should wear comfortable shoes to walk in and water to hydrate.
