Thanks to a generous $500,000 donation from AT&T and WarnerMedia, the YMCA of Greater New York is creating an in-person childcare program for families in the highest need.
In Queens, the program will be offered at the Ridgewood YMCA.
With public schools set to reopen on September 21, many parents who can’t work from home will have to find childcare options, many of which are not affordable.
This new program will allow the YMCA to supervise students during the day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as provide in-person, project-based learning, physical games and activities.
“The YMCA empowers tens of thousands of kids and families every year through childcare, afterschool, summer camp programs and more,” said Sharon Greenberger, president and CEO of YMCA of Greater New York.
“We have continued these services during the pandemic and are proud to help our city recover by serving families in need.”
