Calling all comic fans! On Saturday, April 21 from 2 PM – 5 PM, head to the Ridgewood Branch Queens Library at
2012 Madison street for RidgewoodCon!

Presented by Hairy Lion Comics, RidgewoodCon will be an opportunity for fans to meet local artists, illustrators, and representatives from their favorite comic stores from all over NYC.

Featured artists include, Tammy Jackson, Michael Griffin, Barbara Ang.

No matter what fandom you’re allied to, RidgewoodCon will have something for everyone!

Ridgewood Market’s 5 Year Anniversary Party

Come and celebrate Ridgewood Market’s 5 Year Anniversary at Gottscheer Hall, at 657 Fairview Avenue on April 21st!

From  5-11PM, experience this community-based artisanal market that will feature over 40 curated vendors.

The first 250 customers to arrive at the market will receive a FREE Ridgewood Market tote bag!

Entry to the famous Gotscheer beer hall is free. With new vendors at every event, customers can purchase local, artisan, and vintage gifts. Beer, cocktails, and German food are available for order in the beer hall.

There will be live music, entertainment, raffles, games, and more. This award-winning market has been featured in New York Magazine, The New York Times, and Time Out NY.

Upcoming Entertainment will include, “Candy Twisted Balloons”:

“Our balloon shows are unforgettable and great for stage, school, senior centers and even block parties. Interactive fun with audience participation, balloons, balloons and more balloons, some magic with live animal and giant balloon climb in the finale. I can provide a fun and educational stage show for your location. My shows cover a vast array of subjects, emphasizing safety, health, education, or just simple fun with balloons or fairy tales.”

Local Roots NYC will host an info table at this upcoming market. They are a subscription-based farm share program (or CSA) that has a pickup location at The Footlight in Ridgewood. Their mission is to bring their members local, sustainably-produced food year-round and make it a community event!

Prize Raffle:
The prize raffle will help support 21 in ’21 initiative: 21 in ’21 seeks to elect, at least, 21 women to the New York City Council’s body of 51 members by 2021. The 21 in ’21 nonpartisan effort will prepare women candidates to run for City Council through support, training, and networking.

Katz appoints new and returning CB5 members

It’s that time of the year again!

Borough President Melinda Katz has announced the new and returning community board members for Ridgewood, Glendale, Middle Village and Maspeth.

To be exact, 331 people will serve two-year terms on 14 community boards throughout Queens. Of the 331 appointees, 62 are first-timers.

The term began on April 1.

Community boards play an advisory role in land use and zoning matters, and review issues like parks, infrastructure and safety.
