Parents who lost children to dangerous intersection make plea at CB5 for change

Screen Shot 2016-07-14 at 12.14.02 PMAfter emotional pleas from residents, Community Board 5 voted in favor of the DOT’s proposed redesign of the Myrtle-Wyckoff Ave. intersection.

The intersection, which has seen three pedestrian deaths since 2009 and two dozen crashes since 2010, is notoriously known for being dangerous. Both families and friends of those who have lost their lives at the intersection as well as members of Families for Safe Streets called for the need to support the proposed redesign.

The redesign would create a one-block, car-free plaza at the intersection, drastically cutting the number of potential turns by 70 percent.
