Cyclist impaled on fence in Ridgewood

A cyclist allegedly accidentally impaled himself on a fence just moments after crashing and hitting his head on Woodward Avenue earlier in the day.

According to various media reports, the 41-year-old man was traveling in the bike lane when he hit a pothole and proceeded to crash. He hit his head as a result of the crash, then subsequently fell on the sidewalk and impaled his neck.

Paramedics were able to transport him to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. There are no current updates immediately available on the condition of the victim.

    Sad. Hopes of a speedy recovery. Some infrastructure improvements would be nice, especially on major bike routes like woodward, johnson ave, morgan, etc.
